The Nashville Metro Council yesterday voted to appoint Nick Leonardo, a fellow councilman and attorney, to the General Sessions bench, The Tennessean reports. The council voted 21-16 in favor of Leonardo over Assistant District Attorney Ana Escobar, who was the favored candidate in a poll of Nashville Bar Association members. This was the second time recently that the Metro Council appointed one of their own to the bench; Sam Coleman was selected to replace former General Sessions Judge Casey Moreland last May.
