U.S. Sen. Bob Corker’s office confirmed today that the two-term senator would not seek reelection, despite reconsidering his retirement decision in recent weeks, NPR reports. Last September, Corker announced he would not run again, triggering U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn and former Gov. Phil Bredesen to enter the race to replace him. Some Tennessee Republicans had encouraged Corker to rethink his choice to retire over concern that Blackburn would flounder against Bredesen, a moderate Democrat, in the general election.
