Hendersonville will soon be getting a special needs playground, the first of its kind in Tennessee, according to WKRN. The playground, named Mary's Magical Place, will serve children with disabilities and their families. The playground is named for Mary McAuley, a local teen who had cerebral palsy, epilepsy, used feeding tubes and was in a wheelchair. Mary’s mother said she can’t imagine how excited her daughter would’ve been to see the play area. The vision is to have a playground for people of all ages and all abilities because so much is learned on a playground.
