Officials from Memphis have asked the state attorney general's office for guidance to determine if they can hide the names of companies seeking tax incentives from the public. The Memphis Economic Development and Growth Engine panel voted recently to seek the attorney general's guidance. U.S. News and World Report says the board would like to use project nicknames instead of identifying the company names.
