September 11, 2019 Barristers Monthly Meeting – The next Barristers Monthly Meeting will be held on tomorrow at Bistro by the Bijou, 807 South Gay St. Social time begins at 5 p.m., and the meeting begins promptly at 5:15 p.m. There are many opportunities to get involved, and you are encouraged to contact Barristers President Mikel Towe or Vice President Allison Jackson for more information.
 
Staff the September 11 Veterans’ Legal Advice Clinic – The Veterans’ Legal Advice Clinic is a joint project of the KBA/Barristers Access to Justice Committees, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office, the University of Tennessee College of Law, Lincoln Memorial University - Duncan School of Law, and the local Veterans Affairs office. This is a general advice and referral clinic which requires attorney volunteers for its continued operation. We serve approximately 20 to 30 veterans each month who have a variety of legal issues, including, but not limited to, family law, landlord/tenant, bankruptcy, criminal defense, consumer protection, contract, child support and personal injury issues. We need attorney volunteers for the next clinic, which will be held on Sept. 11, noon - 2 p.m. at the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office (1101 Liberty St). Summer Fun CLE Series: Cannabusiness — What Lawyers Should Know About Cannabis Legalization – The KBA CLE Committee and the Barristers present the third Summer Fun Series, “Cannabusiness — What Lawyers Should Know About Cannabis Legalization,” on Sept. 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Blühen Botanicals, 111 E.
