Motion calendars have traditionally been held on Fridays in Memphis Circuit and Chancery courts; however, Chancellor Jim Kyle has recently changed the way things are done. Now, motions in Part II of Chancery Court are heard Monday through Friday at a time that is agreeable to both the court’s calendar and the attorneys. “No longer having motions strictly on Friday provides flexibility to attorneys and allows them to have their motions heard quicker and more efficiently,” Kyle says. Since the change, attorneys have provided positive feedback, he said, and appreciate the flexibility.
