The new NBC legal drama “Bluff City Law” is in production in its namesake location of Memphis and fans had a unique opportunity to see the stars of the show walk the red carpet on Tuesday night for a premiere screening. Local dignitaries and a bevy of network executives were on hand for the event, as were the actors who make up the ensemble cast. Show representatives say not every episode will be inspired by a local action or event, but the attorneys of the fictional law firm of Strait & Associates don’t shy away from difficult topics such as big agriculture, bigotry and white supremacism. With public screenings planned in nine other cities, billboards and a major social media push, NBC is making the show its top drama priority for the fall. It debuts on Sept. 23. Local officials predict the economic benefit of filming the first 10 episodes will translate into a $35 million boost for the local economy. Read more about the event in the Commercial Appeal.
