At a dinner and awards ceremony on the last night of the TBA Convention, outgoing YLD President Mason Wilson recognized several young lawyers with awards for their service to the organization, the profession and the community. Cookeville lawyer Rachel Moses, an attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, received the division’s President’s Award for tireless dedication to the improvement of the legal profession and to the TBA YLD. She also received the Public Service Day Project of the Year Award for organizing the first annual “Jog & Jam for Justice” in Cookeville to benefit Legal Aid. The President’s Special Recognition Award went to Knoxville lawyer Tasha Blakney and Katrina Atchley and Matt Potempa were named Stars of the Quarter. See photos of the winners.

Finally, two lawyers were named Stars of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of the bar year: Knoxville lawyer Katrina Atchley (not in attendance) was recognized for her service as chair of the Children’s Issues Committee and producer of the CASA Speaks for Polly coloring book project, and Nashville lawyer Matt Potempa (below) was recognized for service to the division as liaison to the American Bar Association YLD and chair of the Nashville Host Committee for the 2012 ABA YLD Spring Meeting.
