Law Tech 2014

What's the hottest new phone? Tech gurus Phillip Hampton and Bill Ramsey offered competing opinions during the Bill and Phil Tech Gadget Show at Law Tech.

The 2014 edition of the Law Tech unConference was the largest and most successful yet. Drawing more than 100 registrants and a dozen sponsors, the unConference continued to excel at providing a relaxed, unconventional learning atmosphere, where attorneys could come and go, attend whichever sessions they found interesting and get all of it free if they wanted.

The unConference this year offered programming in two tracks, with one dedicated to tech topics and the other toward law practice tips. Ample time was provided to give attorneys the opportunity to explore the exhibit hall and sample some of the latest gadgets, software and services for attorneys. A number of the programs are now available as online videos. Those include:

Creating a Mobile App for your Firm, presented by Tori Whitaker, Chief Marketing Officer for Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLP.
Whitaker discusses her firm’s move into making a moblie app. Some of the practice points offered in creating an app include: research, objectives, cost, content, and timeline.

E-Discovery – Technology, Process and Implementation for Law Firms, presented by Roe Frazer and Ryan Best of Cicayda
The really hard part of “eDiscovery” is finding what you are looking for, or even what you are not looking for, but that is highly relevant to the claims in the litigation. This program focuses on using technology to find the important pieces of evidence in the big data that gets produced in eDiscovery.

How to Build a Website in 50 Minutes by Larry Port of Rocket Matter LLC

Along with using text, artwork, and building pages, he talks about keyword lists, doman names, hosting and Google Analytics.

Tech Tools for Your Practice by Phillip Hampton of LogicForce Consulting and Bill Ramsey of Neal & Harwell PLC
This is the annual Phil and Bill Show where computer forensic specialist Phillip Hampton and attorney William Ramsey discuss the latest gadgets from the recent CES. They debate and demonstrate the latest technology in mobile devices, mobile apps, office equipment and cloud storage.

The Ethics of Cloud Computing by Caitlin Moon of C.MoonLaw

Because the right tools for your practice help you be more efficient and productive. Some of the things discussed include data backup and storage, security, and e-discovery.
