Emily Urban joined TDEC in January as a new attorney in the Office of General Counsel.  She comes to TDEC from the Tennessee General Assembly and will be an important part of TDEC''s Legislative Team working with Ryan Swindell, TDEC's Legislative Liaison, and Jenny Howard, Deputy General Counsel.  Emily served as an attorney for the Tennessee General Assembly for nearly ten years, most recently she was a Senior Fiscal Analyst.  Emily also served as Legal Services Director for the Department of Revenue.  Her experience working collaboratively with the public, legislators, legislative staff, fiscal staff, attorneys, faculty, and academic administration as both an attorney and fiscal analyst will be very beneficial to TDEC.  Emily earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Tennessee. She graduated from UT College of Law in 1999 and was admitted to the Tennessee Bar that same year. Bill Miller, is the newest member of TDEC's Office of General Counsel team.  Relocating from Tallahassee, Florida, Bill has been a practicing attorney for 13 years serving in several legal capacities with the Florida Department of Health.  Most recently as a managing attorney, Bill supervised an office of 13 staff members and was the senior executive officer for several healthcare boards including the Boards of Chiropractic Medicine and Nursing Home Administrators, and was a member of the Advisory Council for Medical Physicists.  Bill has strong experience in prosecution and litigation.  He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Anthropology from MTSU, and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law.  And yes, Bill has a “Smokey” in his office along with other UT memorabilia!  Bill can be contacted by phone at  615-532-0136 or via email at: William.F.Miller@tn.gov.

Darlene Marsh has announced that she has joined the Dickinson Wright law firm and will continue her practice in their Nashville office. Darlene focuses her practice primarily in commercial real estate with an emphasis on finance and environmental compliance.  She represents automotive suppliers establishing their first manufacturing facilities in the United States, including tax incentives based on job creation.  She also coordinated the clean-up and remediation of an abandoned firing range attached to a closed U.S. Air Force base, to facilitate a CERCLA cost recovery action.  In her banking practice, Ms. March represents banks and insurance companies in connection with loans, foreclosures, workouts, and collection matters.  Ms. Marsh is a member of the American Bar Association and currently serves as Newsletter Editor for the Tennessee Bar Association's Environmental Law Section.  She is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Association and Nashville Bar Foundation and is a Fellow and Past President of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys.  She is recognized as a leader in the legal industry by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, Mid-South Super Lawyers, Who's Who Legal, and the Nashville Business Journal.  She received her B.S. from Tennessee State University and her J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law.  Ms. Marsh is licensed to practice in the States of Tennessee and Alabama.
