A decision from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals on same-sex marriage cases coming out of Tennessee and other states could determine whether the U.S. Supreme Court takes on the issue, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg suggested to a Minnesota audience last week. Contrary to popular opinion that the court is poised to take up the issue, the Christian Science Monitor reports that Ginsburg’s comments suggest that the court may not be in a hurry to take up the case if the Sixth Circuit decision is in line with the legal trend coming out of state and federal courts in favor of gay marriage.
