Knox County lawyer Horace Maynard Brown was censured on Oct. 14 for violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct. While representing a client in a bankruptcy case, Brown failed to file a motion to approve a personal injury settlement, pay attorney’s fees to the personal injury lawyer or pay the bankruptcy trustee. The court also found that he took possession of the settlement funds, but failed to place the proceeds in a trust account or maintain records of disbursements to creditors. Finally, Brown utilized only one bank account for both his funds and client funds. Read the BPR release.
