A coalition of clergy and community activist groups last week called for a boycott of mainstream businesses during the holiday shopping season to protest what they called "continuing injustice toward African-Americans and other minorities by police and the legal system." At a news conference in front of the National Civil Rights Museum, organizers asked African-American shoppers and their supporters to patronize only black-owned businesses from Black Friday through Jan. 1.
