A disbarred Nashville personal injury attorney was jailed Friday after being free on bond, the Tennessean reports. John Lowery is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to seven counts of theft and eight counts of forgery. Under a plea deal, he will face 10 years of jail, probation or a combination of both. The judge will make a final determination the next 10 days. On the stand, Lowery offered an emotional apology to the people he betrayed. “I hurt people who came to me for help and entrusted me to do the right thing,” he said during the five-hour sentencing hearing. “I failed at my job and took advantage of my legal position.”
