President Donald Trump’s private attorneys said in court this week that he should have immunity from a defamation lawsuit because of his presidential duties, USA Today reports. In a court filing, attorneys argued that the supremacy clause of the U.S. constitution should bar the suit since it could “distract a President from his public duties.” The suit was originally filed on Jan. 17, just days before the inauguration.
