A Middle Tennessee man who turned to Craigslist for help finding romance, instead found himself entangled in a “sextortion” scheme, WSMV-TV reports. After placing an ad on Craigslist, the man received text messages from an underage woman, then was contacted by a caller who claimed to be from the sheriff’s office investigating his contact with her, and finally by a man claiming to be the woman’s father who said she had been in an accident while sexting and asking for money. Nashville attorney David Raybin, who is representing the victim in the case, says his firm has received calls from more than 25 others similarly scammed.
