A resolution in the Hamilton County Commission to remove the bust of a Confederate general from a courthouse lawn has failed, the Times Free Press reports. The legislation would have moved the bust to “neutral ground.” The Memphis City Council has postponed a similar resolution, which would seek the immediate removal of a statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest, The Commercial Appeal reports. The council was scheduled to vote on the issue yesterday, but delayed the vote until after an Oct. 13 meeting of the Tennessee Historical Commission.
