Riverbend Maximum Security Institution lost heat yesterday amid extremely cold temperatures and crews worked overnight to keep inmates and employees warm, the Associated Press reports. The heat loss was caused by a boiler going offline. The staff has not provided a timeline for its return. Riverbend, located in Nashville, houses 787 inmates, including all of the state’s male death row offenders.
