The Tennessee Court of Appeals denied a petition to reverse a Williamson County judge's dismissal of a high-profile sexual assault lawsuit, instead instructing a mother and son suing Brentwood Academy to appeal the lower court's decision, The Tennessean reports. The original petition last month asked for a writ of mandamus, an order from a higher court instructing a lower court to carry out an action. It came a week after Williamson County Circuit Judge Deanna Johnson dismissed a lawsuit filed against Brentwood Academy with prejudice, meaning it couldn't be refiled in the future.
