Two Republican lawmakers introduced a bill yesterday that would allow the state to seize Confederate monuments from private owners, The Commercial Appeal reports. Rep. Matthew Hill, R-Jonesboro, and Sen. Frank Niceley, R- Strawberry Plains, introduced the Tennessee Historic Properties Act, which would expand the state’s eminent domain powers and force the city that owned the statues to pay expenses for the seizure.
