Election officials are expecting near-record turnouts across Tennessee today as voters select who will be the state’s next governor and junior senator. Nashville’s WPLN is offering live coverage throughout the day on its blog, and you can follow official results on the Secretary of State’s website. Lawyers across the country are offering their services to ensure voter rights. Nearly a hundred of the nation’s top law firms and corporate law departments are volunteering for an “election protection” program run by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the ABA Journal reports. Many of those attorneys are hosting 866-OUR VOTE hotline call centers, while other lawyers and law students will be working as poll watchers and compliance monitors.
