Tennessee Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III today joined 50 state attorneys general in a multi-state, bipartisan investigation of Google’s business practices. The coalition recently announced plans to investigate Google’s control of online advertising markets and search traffic that may have led to anti-competitive behavior. Legal experts from each state will work with federal authorities to assess competitive conditions. In announcing the move, Slatery noted that past investigations of Google have not fully addressed the source of its market power or its ability to engage in allegedly anti-competitive business practices.
