The Alliance for Justice is hosting a new virtual event series: May I Approach? Courts and the Power of Inclusion. The first installment will take place next Wednesday at 5 p.m. CDT and will focus on the impact of black women as appellate judges. According to organizers, the event will explore the current landscape of diversity among appellate judges, the opportunities and systemic obstacles to increasing representation of Black women on courts of appeal, and why demographic and experiential diversity is important on the bench. Panelists will include Judge Bernice B. Donald with the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, and the first Black woman elected judge in Tennessee. Register for the free event online.
