Day 3 of the TBA Annual Convention featured big names and big news – Sen. Lamar Alexander accepted the TBA President’s Award from outgoing President Jason Pannu, and he used the opportunity to shine the spotlight on fellow award winners and longtime friends, Nashville School of Law Dean Bill Koch and Hal Hardin. Pannu also passed the gavel to new President Sarah Sheppeard, who was able to highlight major changes coming to the TBA. One such change, unveiled today, is a new brand and identity for the TBA, which proceeds the upcoming new TBA website. Check out photos from the day here.

Day 2 of the TBA Annual Convention in Nashville was highlighted by the Bench/Bar program and luncheon, lead by guest speaker Ken Starr and attended by members of the TBA and the Tennessee Judicial Conference. Other key events included the Better Right Now health and wellness CLE, breakfasts hosted by the alums of local law schools, and an evening of dinner and dancing headlined by My So Called Band. Tomorrow is the biggest day of the conference -- outgoing TBA President Jason Pannu will pass the baton to incoming President Sarah Sheppeard during the annual Lawyers Luncheon. The 2019 TBA Annual Convention began today in downtown Nashville at the Renaissance Hotel. Today's events included the TBASCUS (TBA Senior Counselors Up to Something) luncheon as well as the annual President's Dinner. Highlights tomorrow include the Better Right Now health and wellness CLE, as well as the annual Bench/Bar program and luncheon, which is hosted in conjunction with the Tennessee Judicial Conference. The 2019 TBA Annual Convention commences tomorrow in Nashville at the Renaissance Hotel, where it will continue until Saturday. The conference will include a blockbuster sports and entertainment CLE, a legislative update, networking opportunities and more, alongside annual favorites like the Bench/Bar Luncheon, held each year with the Tennessee Judicial Conference. The TBA this week will bestow the President’s Award to retiring U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander in honor of his decades of public service to our state. The presentation will be made at the Lawyers Luncheon on Friday during the TBA Annual Convention in Nashville. The veteran Republican senator will also be recognized by the Tennessee Judicial Conference at the same event, where he will make brief remarks. Former Tennessee Supreme Court Justice and current Nashville School of Law Dean William C. Koch Jr. will be honored next month with the TBA’s prestigious Justice Frank F. Drowota III Award. Named in honor of former Tennessee Chief Justice Frank Drowota, the award is the TBA’s highest honor given for service to the judiciary and has been presented annually for more than a decade. Koch was chosen for his decades of service to the legal profession in Tennessee, including his local and national leadership of the American Inns of Court, as well as his work as chair of the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Indigent Representation Task Force. Koch will receive the award during the Lawyers Luncheon at the TBA Convention, June 12-15.

In addition to fun evening activities and networking opportunities, the TBA Annual Convention in Nashville will offer a number of valuable CLE programs.
