Position Description:

The Andersen Firm practices in estate planning, estate settlement and probate, and asset protection and is seeking an experienced legal assistant to be an integral part of our estate settlement and probate team.  Significant prior experience in probate and settlement is required for candidates to be considered for this position.

Provides direct support to assigned attorneys, market areas, and projects by preparing and maintaining probate/settlement files, drafting and/or proofing pleadings, notices, responses, correspondence and other related documents, performing legal research, facilitating immediate access of information by other offices through electronic imaging, and other tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for creating, updating and maintaining probate/settlement files that are assigned.
  • Meets with assigned attorneys and other members of the Settlement/Probate team as needed so that they may download relevant information, assign tasks, and provide instructions.
  • Prepares initial drafts of notices, pleadings, and other related documents and submits to supervisor and/or attorney for review and approval.
  • Performs all tasks relative to probate and trust settlements under the supervisor’s and attorney’s direct supervision.
  • Process information according to the firm’s procedures and specific instructions received from the attorney and/or supervisor.
  • Processes all client-related documents on date of receipt by scanning them into the firm’s electronic imaging system.
  • Attends client meetings and other events as assigned.
  • Additional work assignments based on needs of the firm.
Required Skills:

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following:

  • Microsoft Word 
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Outlook Mail and Calendar
  • E-Filings



Required Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years prior experience in the legal field with a significant amount of time spent in probate and settlement.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
