Former Lawyer Accused of Misusing Trust Funds

A Nashville woman is accusing prominent former attorney David Ewing of taking “unfair and undue advantage of her” while overseeing a $1.2 million trust in her name. Margaret Fort says the account is now empty, with less than half of the money having been spent for her benefit. Fort is seeking $2.5 million in actual damages in addition to other costs and awards. Ewing, now a historical consultant frequently in the news for his advocacy and research, filed a broad denial of the claims, the Nashville Post reports. Ewing voluntarily gave up his law license in August after the suit was filed.
