Tennessee Lawyers Offer Free Legal Clinics, Educational Seminars Across the State

Events are part of TBA Young Lawyers Division’s Annual Service Project

NASHVILLE, April 28, 2015 – Tennessee young lawyers are combining efforts over the next 10 days to host legal advice clinics, legal awareness fairs and educational seminars across the state to assist low-income individuals in need of legal assistance.

Events range from general legal advice clinics, to specific clinics focusing on issues such as landlord/tenant problems or parenting plans for divorcing couples. Two legal fairs will provide general information about the free resources available to Tennesseans in need of legal assistance. And an educational seminar will provide information about dealing with creditors, bankruptcies and effective budgeting.

The events are being held in conjunction with legal aid offices across the state, including the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands and West Tennessee Legal Services.

The weeklong Statewide Legal Clinic Initiative is the brainchild of TBA Young Lawyers Division President Rachel Moses, a lawyer in the Cookeville office of the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands. Moses has made pro bono service a key component of her platform for the year.

The TBA Young Lawyers Division is known for its active and enthusiastic support for public and legal service projects in the state. It coordinates the high school mock trial competition, presents law-related education curriculum to Tennessee students, organizes a statewide public service day each year and provides free legal services to the public through a variety of events.
