YLD Invited Guest News for February 2016

The TBA YLD Board invites specialty and minority bars in the state to name a representative to serve as an unfunded and non-voting member of the board. The goal of the invited guest program is to increase diversity among the board and provide an opportunity for young lawyers involved in other legal organizations to have a voice in the state bar association. See a list of all organizations invited to send representatives.

East Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women (ETLAW) – On Feb. 17, ETLAW in collaboration with TLAW, the University of Tennessee College of Law and the UT Law student organization, Law Women, hosted a very informative discussion on constitutional, family and privacy law implications of the anti-vaccination movement and the criminal, family, and privacy law implications involved with Tennessee’s fetal drug law to a packed room at the University of Tennessee. 
 
ETLAW’s March monthly meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 16, at noon at the YWCA in downtown Knoxville (420 Clinch Avenue). Leslie L. Beale, JD, the founder of and Success Coach at Profusion Strategies, will be presenting Habits to Help You Thrive in the Practice of Law. 
 
Save the Date: ETLAW’s Supreme Court Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, May 4, at noon at the Foundry on the Fair Site (747 World’s Fair Park Drive).  Additional details to come.  For more information about the group, contact Alicia Teubert.

National Bar Association, S.L. Hutchins Chapter – The S.L. Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women (TLAW) – TLAW is having a women’s empowerment conference on April 8 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis LLP in Nashville.  Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Sharon Lee will serve as the luncheon speaker and will inspire you with her insights. Tennessee Supreme Court Justcies Cornelia Clark and Holly Kirby, along with Nashville attorney Anne Martin, will be moderating discussions. The Keynote speaker will be Gwen K.
