Reach Out to the U.S. Congress and Tennessee General Assembly Through TBAImpact

The Tennessee Bar Association advocates on behalf of its members for the passage of legislation important to the practice of law, but from time to time it needs you to lend your stories and voice to the efforts. TBAImpact is a tool to make sure your voice is heard in the halls of Congress and the General Assembly on issues important to sustaining and improving the practice of law and administration of justice. Through TBAImpact, discover key issues facing lawyers in the legislature, and find out how you can connect with your representatives.

You are invited to the TN Professional Privilege Tax Lobby Day on Tuesday, February 11th at the TN State Capitol!

One of the Tennessee Bar Association’s top legislative priorities in the 2020 General Assembly is to eliminate the professional privilege tax, and we are asking all Tennessee lawyers to reach out to their elected officials and tell them that owning and operating a business should be a right in Tennessee – not a privilege.  No one should be taxed simply to go to work!

Please take a few minutes right now to reach out to your elected representatives and senators and share how this tax impacts your business and your time through TBA Impact

Additionally, this Tuesday, February 11, 2020 is the TN Professional Privilege Tax Lobby Day, and we want you to join us!

Join NFIB, the Beacon Center of Tennessee, Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee, Americans for Tax Reform, the Tennessee Medical Association, Tennessee Bar Association, and NAIFA Tennessee for a day to END the Professional Privilege Tax!

February 11, 2020, 8:00am – 12:00pm CDT, Tennessee State Capitol, Nashville, TN

If you plan to attend, please send a quick email to  For more information, go to

We need to tell our legislators our personal stories and help them understand that the salaries of attorneys in Tennessee vary significantly across the state.  A $400 yearly tax that only applies to a small sliver of Tennessee professions is both burdensome and discriminatory.
