American Bar Association YLD – The Tennessee Bar Association YLD was well represented at the ABA YLD’s Fall Conference in Detroit. The next ABA event will be the group’s ABA Midyear Meeting in Miami on February 5-7, 2017. More information on that meeting can be found here.

Chattanooga Bar Association YLD – The Chattanooga Bar Association YLD will continue to have monthly social happy hours and quarterly Coffee Talks with local judges throughout the year. The group recently hosted a fundraiser to purchase stuffed animals for CASA to distribute to children who are removed from their home. The Chattanooga YLD will be having an expungement clinic Nov. 12 at the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga located at 730 E M L King Blvd, Chattanooga, 37403.

Knoxville Bar Association Barristers – The Barristers Volunteer Breakfast is a recurring event on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:15 a.m. The Barristers Volunteer Breakfast Committee always needs volunteers to serve food or sponsor. Sign up here. The Barristers will host a reception to welcome new bar admittees on Nov. 7 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Calhoun's on the River, 400 Neyland Drive. Register by Nov. 4 here. They are also hosting a canned food drive from Nov. 7 - 21 to benefit Second Harvest. Those with questions should contact Courtney Houpt or Kourtney Hennard.
 
The group is currently seeking Barristers to serve as Officers in 2017.  The following officers for the 2017 bar year are open for nomination: Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and two (2) At-Large Executive Committee Seats. Please notify Lacey Dillon by Nov. 4 if you would like to nominate someone or are interested in running for a Barristers office. Please note that the person elected Vice-President in December will automatically become the Barristers President for the 2018 bar year. Candidates must be current KBA members.

Maury County Bar Association YLD – The Maury County YLD continues to hold social gatherings on the first Tuesday of the month. For more information contact President Thomas Hutto, (931) 388-2822.
 
Memphis Bar Association YLD –  Join the Memphis Bar Association Young Lawyers Division for its Annual Meeting and Elections on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Central Barbecue (downtown location). Come cast your vote for YLD Vice President/President-Elect, Board of Directors and Outstanding Judge of the Year. Voting will close at 6:30 pm. Before the night is over, the gavel will be passed and the results of the election will be announced. The group is also currently accepting votes for the Charles A. Rond Award.

Montgomery County Bar Association YLD – The group will be hosting its Wills for Heroes event on Sept. 17 at the Clarksville Police Department from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are seeking attorney volunteers, notaries, witnesses and heroes. Upper Cumberland Young Lawyers Association – The Upper Cumberland Young Lawyers Association had its 13th local swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 25th. The group had a great turnout and swore-in 5 new attorneys with ties to the Upper Cumberland area. The UCYLA usually tries to meet on the first Thursday of each month.
