Following devastating wildfires in the Smoky Mountains and the call from the TBA and other legal groups to offer assistance to victims, the TBA Young Lawyers Division has activated its Disaster Relief Committee and is requesting all hands on deck.

The YLD will be assisting the legal effort through volunteer recruitment, as many attorneys will be needed. Volunteers statewide can respond to calls on the HELP4TN helpline or the TN Free Legal Answers website, and volunteers in East Tennessee are needed for expected in-person clinics.

However, not all legal help is needed right now. Some victims might not be able to assess their damages for weeks or months. So we are putting the call out now, in order to create a database of attorneys who are available to help in person or via the helpline or website.

Please see the official release on the TBA website for more, and share this information among your networks.

If you would like to help get the word out for the victims, please share this flyer.

If you have quesions, please contact Disaster Relief co-chairs Holly Mancl or I'Ashea Myles-Dihigo.
