U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn said that a law that provided less scrutiny to producers and distributors of opioids should be “addressed immediately,” The Tennessean reports. The law came to light after a joint investigation by “60 Minutes” and The Washington Post showed Blackburn and other elected officials who took large donations from the drug lobby later worked to produce a law that stripped the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration of its ability to freeze suspicious shipments of narcotics. Blackburn co-sponsored the legislation in the House.
