The Johnson County’s Emergency Heating Assistance for Seniors Fund is seeking donations to ensure that low-income seniors keep warm this winter, The Tomahawk reports. Since 2008, the 501(c) 3 organization has collected more than $175,000 towards heating costs, which helped provide kerosene, propane, wood, coal, or assistance with electric bills. Eligible applicants are screened through the Tennessee Department of Health and must be at least 65 years old, or 60 years of age with a disability.
