A Hendersonville woman convicted of first-degree murder in the 2011 deaths of her newborn twins has been granted a hearing in Sumner County Criminal Court that could result in a new trial, the Portland Sun reports. Lindsey Lowe was sentenced to life in prison in 2013 after being found guilty of two counts each of felony murder, first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated child abuse. In 2018, the Tennessee Supreme Court denied her appeal and a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court also was denied. In September, Lowe’s attorney filed a petition for post-conviction relief. Although the petition was filed past the deadline, her current lawyers argued the court should grant it because Lowe received inaccurate information from other attorneys about the filing deadline.
