A group of Democratic state attorneys general is challenging a recent 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate to buy health insurance is unconstitutional, NBC reports. The group filed a petition Friday seeking Supreme Court review of the issue. The AGs argue that since Congress reduced the penalty to zero several years ago, there are no longer any constitutional issues with the law. Yesterday, the court asked the parties to respond to the proposed appeal by Friday.
