A Metro Nashville Public Schools employee is suing the district in federal court for allegedly denying her a religious accommodation and then demoting her for taking the time off to attend a religious conference, WZTV reports. According to the suit, Carol Barton had attended such conferences in previous years but was denied a time off request in 2018 to attend the conference. The suit also alleges she was forced to work part-time as a substitute teacher with lesser pay and benefits after choosing to attend the conference.
