Veterans Legal Advice Clinic - Mark your calendars to volunteer at the upcoming Veterans Legal Advice Clinics on Wednesday, June 10, and Wednesday, July 8! The Veterans Legal Advice Clinic is a general advice and referral clinic serving veterans in our community.  Volunteers are needed between 12- 2 p.m.  The clinic takes place at the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office, located at 1101 Liberty St., Knoxville, TN 37919. Please sign up online.

Please note that  the Veterans Legal Advice Clinics scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 has been canceled.

Volunteer Breakfast Needs Sponsors & Volunteers — Please sponsor and/or volunteer for the upcoming volunteer breakfast events, scheduled for Thursday, May 28, and Thursday, June 25! The Volunteer Breakfast is at 6:15 a.m. and provides and serves breakfast at the Volunteer Ministry Center, located at 511 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917.  To sponsor a Volunteer Breakfast the with a simple a monetary donation of $150 to supply groceries, complete the Volunteer Breakfast Sponsorship Form.  If you are interested in volunteering yourself, a group, or firm, please fill out the Volunteer Sign Up Form. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Matt Knable or Mitchell Panter for more information.

Law & Liberty Award — The Barristers are seeking nominations for the Law & Liberty Award. The deadline has been extended to May 29. The recipient should be visible to the legal profession and the local bar association, but nominees do not have to be attorneys to qualify for the Law and Liberty Award. Review the criteria here. Monthly Barristers Meeting - Join us Wednesday, May 13, and Wednesday, June 10, for our upcoming Barristers meetings! Barristers meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, with a social time starting at 5 p.m., and the meeting to begin promptly at 5:15 p.m., at the Bistro at the Bijou, located at 807 S Gay St.

The following Knoxville Barristers events have been postponed, and will be rescheduled for a later date:

• The Athletics Committee’s KICK AXE - Axe Throwing Tournament originally scheduled for Thursday, April 16, has been postponed.  Please check the Knoxville Bar Association website for updates regarding the new date.

• The Professional Clothing Drive originally scheduled for April 6 to 20 has been postponed; however, the new dates will be available on the KBA website.  Please contact the committee co-chair Meagan Collver with questions or to learn more about how you can help.
