On Oct. 1, the Marion Griffin Chapter  Lawyers Association for Women hosted a virtual mixologist networking event. There was also cocktail trivia between drinks and a drawing for a $25 VISA gift card!

On Oct. 7, LAW held part three of its three-part "Across Generations" series. This one-hour CLE was focused on and addressed issues for LAW members who were wondering whether to "Look Towards Retirement or Keep Working?"

On Oct. 20, CLE hosted its monthly member meeting and CLE. The program this month was "Immigration Snapshot in the Year 2020." The program discussed topics of business and employment immigration, including how the June 2020 Trump Executive Order affects work visas why TN and E visas are not included in the order, whether foreign nationals can work from home during the pandemic and more. The panelists also discussed humanitarian and family-based immigration, including the new Public Charge Rule, and the impact of the increase in rejections in asylum, and the current state of visa wait times.

On Oct. 27, LAW held its quarterly Lean-In Mentoring meeting. The focus for this meeting was "Isolated but Not Alone: A Discussion about the Prevalence of Mental Health Issues in the Legal Profession." The program began with an education presentation from Lindsey O’Connell of TLAP, who discussed recent and relevant statistics on mental health in the legal profession; strategies, tips and tactics to manage stress; and signs that a colleague is experiencing mental hardships and when to refer that person to TLAP to seek help.

Finally, on Oct. 28, LAW hosted a program dedicated to honoring and remembering Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
