Truist Financial Corp., a Charlotte, North Carolina, based bank resulting from the merger of BB&T and SunTrust, has announced it will expand its Operation HOPE financial coaching partnership to Nashville area branches, the Nashville Business Journal reports. Operation HOPE is a program established by Truist to grow economic opportunities in low- to moderate-income communities through one-on-one and group learning sessions focused on credit, debt reduction and homeownership concerns. The program also includes grant money and volunteer hours to build and support one million Black-owned businesses by 2030. Truist currently has 30 coaches covering its existing 600 branches, with plans to have coaches available in 1,000 branches by 2024. This year around 8,000 Truist customers took advantage of the free resource.
