Ethics can get quite complicated when we are representing older clients. What should we do when we suspect that our clients are mentally impaired? Who is the client when a family shows up for the consultation? What are our ethical duties when children pay for the work that we do for their parents? Join us as we explore these issues.
Speaker Bio:
BARBARA MOSS is the founder of Elder Law of Nashville. She has been practicing law in Nashville since 1977, focusing her practice on elder law, life care planning, conservatorships, probate, asset preservation, TennCare, and Veterans Benefits. Moss was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Vanderbilt School of Law from 1984 to 2000, and is presently a professor at the Nashville School of Law. In 2022, she received the Martha Craig Daughtrey Award from the Lawyers Association for Women in Nashville. She chaired the Board of Professional Responsibility of the Supreme Court of Tennessee in 1995-96, and has been recognized for her contributions to the law profession and the community with numerous other honors including the Athena Award in 2007. Moss is a frequent contributor to The Tennessean, where her more than 95 columns have appeared in the business section and on the op-ed page. She is a 1977 graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Law.
