The 2021 Tennessee mock trial competitions will be completely virtual. We will use the Empire virtual competition platform to host both our grand division and state competitions. For 2021, the 14 districts have been consolidated into three competition zones mirroring the state’s three grand divisions: West, Middle and East. Grand divisions will host preliminary rounds. Grand Division competitions will be held February 19-21. Teams will be notified of their specific round times closer to date.  We need the following volunteers:
Volunteer attorneys and members of the judiciary to serve as presiding judges;  
Volunteer attorneys to serve as scorers (jurors) and bailiffs (time keepers);
Law Students and Paralegals to serve as bailiffs (time keepers).
 
Each trial round is allocated 4 hours from the beginning of orientation for the trial room to completion of the round.  Typically, rounds last 2-2 1/2 hours, but we are allotting 4 hours to ensure that there is adequate time to deal with any potential technology problems and to ensure all rounds have time to end before the next round is scheduled to begin. Because all volunteers will be signing up for specific round times, attorneys will not receive further assignment until they receive a specific “Virtual Trial Room” assignment and link to use for each round for which they volunteer.  Further instructions will be sent out closer to date with details on how to access your trial rooms along with case-specific information. Please notify Mock Trial Chair, Kati Sanford-Goodner, if you haven't received your Grand Division Round Volunteer packet by February 17th.  State competition Volunteer Packets will be emailed by March 17th.
