In the booming city of Nashville, more construction workers have died in 2016 and 2017 than in any two-year stretch in the previous three decades, The Tennessean reports. Assigning liability in these and other accidents has also grown more difficult, as construction companies have moved to using more and more small “subs of subs” in the tight labor market. Many of those workers are sent onto scaffolding and roofs without safety equipment or training, The Tennessean says. Federal law places primary safety responsibility on the direct employer, so of the 16 fatalities reported in 2016 and 2017, only three resulted in the general contractor being held accountable.

The wife of the late singer Glen Campbell made legal moves on Friday to assure she will receive at least 40 percent of his estate, The Tennessean reports. In a court filing, Kimberly Campbell asserted her right to invoke the provisions of state law that guarantees a widow a set percentage of her husband’s estate in the event he dies without a valid will. Three of Campbell’s children have challenged the validity of the will filed by Kimberly Campbell last year, which excluded those children from benefiting from his estate.

With special counsel Robert Mueller raising the prospect of subpoenaing President Donald Trump in connection to the investigation into Russian tampering with U.S. elections, NBC News looks at previous presidential subpoenas and how they were handled. Thomas Jefferson was subpoenaed for documents in the treason trial of his former vice president, Aaron Burr. He initially declined to comply but ultimately produced material in the case. President Richard Nixon failed to shield tape recordings from the prosecutor working the Watergate case; a court rejected his claim that the recordings were protected by executive privilege. The Supreme Court was also called on to rule when President Bill Clinton was subpoenaed, saying that he was not immune from a lawsuit filed by Paula Jones, who accused him of sexual harassment.

The Supreme Court of Tennessee today disbarred Montgomery County lawyer Carrie Leigh Gasaway and ordered her to pay restitution in the amount of $6,500 and costs of the disciplinary proceeding. She was previously disbarred on Oct. 15, 2015, and Oct. 29, 2017. Gasaway failed to comply with the terms and conditions of a prior public censure issued on April 13, 2016, for failing to provide competent and diligent representation and reasonably communicate with two clients, failing to account for funds held in trust, failing to deliver the trust funds to her client and failing to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility concerning the disciplinary complaint. In the second disciplinary matter, she received a retainer fee but failed to provide professional services, adequately communicate with her client during her client’s military deployment or promptly refund unearned fees after being terminated.
