The Music City Community Court Pro Se Indigency Docket and Expungement clinic will again be held in Nashville on Saturday. The clinic will be held at First Baptist South Inglewood Church, 1515 Ann St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to volunteers at no charge. Those who can volunteer should email musiccitycommunitycourt@jis.nashville.org if interested in volunteering.

Lipscomb University’s Institute for Law, Justice and Society will host a free legal advice clinic in Nashville on Aug. 15 and volunteer attorneys are needed. The clinic will be held at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 600 28th Ave N, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those interested in volunteering should contact Randy Spivey at randy.spivey@lipscomb.edu.

Williamson County attorney John Jay Clark was disbarred today by the Tennessee Supreme Court, effective immediately. Clark was suspended last year based upon his conviction for forgery. Clark was found to have forged the signature of a judge on documents used in an uncontested divorce case, passing those documents along to his clients and leading them to believe they were divorced. In one case, one spouse remarried based upon the belief he was divorced. In an unrelated case, Clark was previously disbarred in December 2016.

Knoxville small business owner Brad Fullington will join the Republican primary for the 2nd U.S. Congressional District, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports. Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and State Rep. Jimmy Matlock (R-Lenoir City) have already announced plans to run for the seat currently occupied by Congressman John “Jimmy” Duncan Jr., who will be stepping down after this term. Democratic candidate Joshua Williams will also vie for the position.

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) has released the latest details on insurance claims related to the Gatlinburg wildfires, showing incurred losses of $909,801,523, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports. The total is down from its highest listing in February, which was $943 million. Of that number, $474 million are from residential property and $384 million are from commercial ones.

A lawsuit filed in Williamson County Circuit Court claims that the prestigious Brentwood Academy allowed teenage boys to repeatedly sexually assault a 12-year-old boy, the Tennessean reports. The suit, filed by a Nashville parent, accuses four boys of repeatedly raping and assaulting a student during the 2014-2015 academic year. The school allegedly failed to respond to the attacks and refused to report them to authorities. The parent is seeking more than $60 million in damages.

Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors will host a fundraiser this fall in Nashville to support their work of providing legal services to immigrants and refugees. The event, called “Tapas for Justice,” will be held at Bass, Berry and Sims, 150 3rd Ave S , from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 2. Tickets are $50 per person and $25 for students. The woman who accused former state Sen. Joe Haynes of sexual battery has hired famed attorney Gloria Allred to represent her, WSMV reports. She is seeking $2 million in damages for professional negligence and emotional distress. Allred has applied for temporary approval to practice law in Tennessee and is working alongside Chattanooga lawyer Donna J. Mikel.
