Nashville’s District Attorney is investigating an anonymous robocall that characterized mayoral candidate David Fox as an extreme rightwing Republican. The message does not disclose who paid for it, a potential violation of federal law. Although Fox’s campaign has asked that whoever is responsible be charged with a crime, even if the DA finds wrongdoing, it’s possible the responsible party could be turned over to the state’s Registry of Election Finance, which is primarily restricted to issuing fines. Nashville Public Radio has more.

A recent opinion issued by the Tennessee attorney general "opens the door" to concealed carry permit holders potentially being allowed to take their weapons into the facilities where the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators play, an attorney for Senate Democrats says. Because both are owned by Metro Nashville -- even though they're operated by private companies -- they fall under guns-in-parks legislation passed last session, Junaid Odubeko told the Tennessean. The NFL bans weapons at all of its games, setting up a possible conflict.

The New York Times has the story.

Nearly 60 donations of a million dollars or more accounted for about a third of the more than $380 million brought in so far for the 2016 presidential election, according to an Associated Press analysis of fundraising reports filed with federal regulators through Friday. Donors who gave at least $100,000 account for about half of all donations so far to candidates' presidential committees and the super PACs that support them. That concentration of money from a small group of wealthy donors builds on a trend that began in 2012, the first presidential contest after a series of court rulings and regulatory steps that created the super PAC. WRCB has the story from the AP.
