UT Law Dean: Already Feels Like Home

Knoxville already feels like home, new University of Tennessee College of Law Dean Melanie D. Wilson says in a welcome video. Earlier this month Wilson took over leadership of the law school from former dean Doug Blaze who stepped down to return to teaching full-time and to serve as director of the college’s new Institute for Professional Leadership, which he co-founded.

Nashville lawyer Bill Harbison became the Tennessee Bar Association's president June 19 when Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Bivins administered the oath of office to him at the Lawyers Luncheon during the TBA's 134th annual convention in Memphis. Knoxville lawyer Jason Long is president-elect, Memphis lawyer Lucian Pera is vice president and Jackson lawyer Jonathan Steen is immediate past president.

National pro bono tool to be based on tennessee model

The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service is implementing a national interactive pro bono website based on Tennessee’s OnlineTNJustice. The decision came at a May meeting in Austin, Texas.

Springfield lawyer John Holt with the Law Offices of Holt & Kroeger has been declared the winner of a contested race for the Tennessee Bar Association House of Delegates (HOD) District 19. Lucian Pera to be TBA?President

Memphis attorney Lucian Pera of Adams and Reese will be president of the Tennessee Bar Association in 2017–2018, according to election-qualifying results. No other candidate filed for the vice president position by the Feb. 15 deadline. After taking office as vice president this summer, Pera will become president-elect in 2016-2017 and take over the organization’s leadership in June 2017.
