The Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville and its Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts (VLPA) program will hold a pro bono clinic on Aug. 7 for those needing legal advice on issues surrounding their creative practice. The free 30-minute in-person appointments are available to income-qualified artists, musicians, creatives and arts organizations in the state. The clinic will run from 6-8 p.m. CDT at the Nashville office of Bradley, 1221 Broadway, Ste. 2400, Nashville 37208. Those who would like to participate should register by Aug. 2. To volunteer at the clinic, email vlpa@abcnashville.org.

The next legal clinic for veterans in Knoxville will take place Aug. 14 from 12-1 p.m. EDT at the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office in Knoxville. This is a general advice clinic sponsored by the Knoxville Bar Association, KBA Barristers, Legal Aid of East Tennessee, Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law, the University of Tennessee College of Law, the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office and the local Veterans Affairs office. West Tennessee Legal Services (WTLS) is seeking volunteers for their Wills & Power of Attorney clinic on July 11 and 12. All attorney work is completed remotely via phone using WTLS document automation software, and WTLS will handle the document execution. The Knoxville Bar Association and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, in partnership with Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET), will hold a Debt Relief Clinic on Aug. 17 to provide pro bono legal services to income-eligible consumer debtors in Knox, Blount, Loudon and Sevier counties. The clinic will begin at 8:45 a.m. EDT at the Knox County Public Defender's Community Law Office, 1101 Liberty St., Knoxville 37919. Volunteer lawyers will conduct initial meetings with the clients to discuss their situations and options. Those interested in helping should register online.

Registration is now open for the next free advice clinic for Black-owned small businesses and nonprofits, set for July 19 in Nashville. The clinic, sponsored by the Arts & Business Council's Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts and Bradley, provides assistance with business formation and corporate governance, review of contracts and guidance in navigating local ordinances and state regulations. Prospective clients should register by July 15. Attorneys should email vlpa@abcnashville.org to volunteer.

The Tennessee Supreme Court in partnership with Legal Aid of East Tennessee, the Tennessee Alliance of Legal Services (TALS) and the Knoxville Bar Association (KBA) will hold a minority-owned business advice legal clinic on July 18 from 4-6 p.m. EDT. The Access to Justice (ATJ) Commission, Legal Aid of East Tennessee (LAET), Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands (LAS), West Tennessee Legal Services (WTLS), Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services (TALS), The University of Tennessee College of Law Legal Clinic, Free Hearts and United Way are recruiting pro bono volunteer attorneys for their rights restoration project.
