The TBA’s Immigration Section will host a one-hour webcast on Jan. 21 looking at the ever-changing environment of employment and immigration enforcement, including the likelihood for increased enforcement scrutiny under the incoming administration. TBA's 20th Annual Bankruptcy Law Forum will take place in Chattanooga, May 16-18, 2025. Friday afternoon's programming will include a discussion on recent developments impacting mortgages in bankruptcies, a bankruptcy case law update and a "View from the Bench" session. On Saturday, attendees will participate in small group discussions with bankruptcy judges from across the state serving as group leaders. The TBA Intellectual Property Section launches its 2025 webcast series with the first installment on Feb. 5, 2025, focused on subject matter eligibility updates for AI-related inventions. On July 17, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued an update on patent subject matter eligibility to assist eligibility evaluations in patent applications and patents involving inventions related to AI technology. The webcast, beginning at noon CST, will provide an overview of the guidance update, including examples issued in conjunction with the update and community comments submitted. The TBA Young Lawyers Division (TBA YLD) will continue its Rookie Series with "Combating Burnout Through Mentorship: Supporting the Next Generation of Attorneys" on Feb. 13 from noon to 1 p.m. CST. The webcast will feature a panel of experienced young lawyers and a judge discussing the crucial role mentorship plays in preventing burnout among young attorneys. Panelists will share personal experiences on how mentorship has supported their careers and well-being, as well as how they are now giving back by mentoring the next generation of lawyers.
