Legal Aid of Middle Tennessee & the Cumberlands will hold four legal clinics this week. Tomorrow, the group will hold a clinic in Gallatin from 4:30-5:30 p.m. CDT at the Gallatin Civic Center, 210 Albert Gallatin Ave. On Wednesday, a legal clinic specifically for veterans will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT at Operation Stand Down, 1125 12th Ave. S., Nashville 37203. On Thursday, a clinic will be held at the Greenhouse Ministries, 309 South Academy St., Murfreesboro 37130 from 3-4:30 p.m. CDT, and on Saturday, the McHugh Clinic will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. CDT at 2005 12th Ave. S., Nashville 37204. A legal clinic for veterans will be held in Memphis next Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. CDT. The clinic will be moving back to an in-person forum, but virtual/telephonic options will still be available. No experience in legal issues specific to veterans is necessary for lawyers who would like to volunteer. Those interested in helping should contact Jake Dickerson.

This month, Millions of Conversations is supporting a series of community conversations centered on navigating difficult and pertinent conversations on public safety with diverse community stakeholders in Davidson, Williamson and other nearby Tennessee counties. The primary topic of discussion will be gun culture and responsibility in Tennessee in preparation for the General Assembly's Special Session on Public Safety set to begin on Aug. 21. The Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) has officially moved into its new building, located at 155 Lafayette St. in Nashville. TJC's new home is the organization's first permanent location in its 27-year history. An open house celebration will be announced in the coming weeks and TJC's annual Hall of Fame Gala will be held Oct. 26.

Volunteers are needed for the Shelby County General Sessions Court Cost & Expungement Clinic on Aug. 12 at Southbrook Mall, 1254 E. Shelby Dr., Memphis 38116. No previous experience is required. The Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Lawyers' Association for Women will hold a portrait unveiling ceremony and celebration for retiring Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Sharon Lee on Aug. 24 at 3 p.m. EDT. It will be the first portrait of a female justice to hang inside any of the court’s courtrooms across the state, Georgiana Vines reports in KnoxNews. The date was chosen to coincide with the 103rd anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment on Aug. 26. The event will take place in the Tennessee Supreme Court Building, 505 Main St., Knoxville 37902. Two other events are being planned for Lee: a reception in Nashville and a dinner in Cleveland hosted by the Bradley County Bar Association.

Two travel options are available: a four-night trip to Dublin and a six-night trip to Dublin and Belfast. The Nashville Arts and Business Council will host a Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals for the Arts pro bono legal clinic on Aug. 2 from 6 - 8 p.m. (CDT) at the East Park Community Center, 600 Woodland St., Nashville 37206. The clinic will provide pro bono legal services to income-qualified artists, emerging arts nonprofit organizations, and creative businesses in drafting and reviewing contracts, protecting work with copyright and trademark and resolving arts-related disputes.
