The Tennessee Justice Center (TJC) is seeking an experienced attorney to provide individual legal services and policy solutions to advocate for access to quality and affordable health care, nutrition and access to justice. This position reports directly to the supervising attorney and interacts regularly with a team of client advocates. Candidates must be licensed or be willing to become licensed in Tennessee, have five to 10 years of litigation and administrative advocacy experience and be able to work independently. Those with experience in public interest law, advocacy and complex trial litigation and knowledge of health care laws are preferred. The Tennessee Court of Appeals in Jackson has an immediate opening for a staff attorney. The staff attorney is responsible for reviewing all motions and drafting proposed orders; screening appeals for procedural and jurisdictional problems; reviewing and making recommendations on applications for extraordinary appeals; assisting the Court in its regular duties; and providing legal advice to the appellate court clerks. A minimum of three years or more of legal experience and prior clerkship or staff attorney experience is preferred. The Federal Public Defender for the Middle District of Tennessee is accepting applications for a full-time assistant federal public defender in its trial unit. The position provides legal representation to clients charged with federal criminal offenses before federal magistrate and district courts in the Middle District of Tennessee, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. The office is seeking candidates from a range of backgrounds, including those who have experience working with marginalized communities. This position will work directly with the judges appointed to the panels to assist in the creation, development and implementation of process and procedure.
