Belmont University College of Law is accepting applications from lawyers interested in a fellowship through the Belmont University Fellows Program. Applicants should have a law degree, a strong academic background and an interest in pursuing a  teaching/research position. A special focus will be placed on applicants from under-represented groups in the profession. The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is now accepting applications for a circuit court judge in the 16th Judicial District, covering Rutherford and Cannon counties. The vacancy will be created by the retirement of Judge David M. Bragg, effective Jan. 1, 2021. Qualified applicants must be residents of the 16th Judicial District who have lived in the state for at least five years, are licensed attorneys and are at least 30 years of age. To apply, submit the Trial Court Vacancy Commission Application to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CDT on Oct. 15. A virtual hearing will be held on this matter on Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. CST and will be livestreamed on the AOC’s YouTube page. The U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Disaster Assistance is seeking an attorney advisor and a virtual paralegal specialist. The jobs are full-time, but temporary and may last from two to six months. Both positions will help review and close SBA disaster loans. Attorneys may be licensed in any state and those waiting on bar exam results may apply. Real estate experience is a plus. The new deadline to apply is Nov. 30.

Gov. Bill Lee’s office is now accepting applications to fill the public defender post for the 26th Judicial District until the next biennial election takes place in August 2022. The vacancy is due to the retirement of George Googe, effective Jan. 1. The 26th Judicial District covers Madison, Henderson and Chester counties. Legal Aid of East Tennessee is seeking two full-time staff attorneys to work in Johnson City. One general litigation attorney will work in LAET’s office. The other will work out of the Johnson City Family Justice Center and should have experience in domestic violence litigation. Candidates for both positions must have at least one year of relevant experience, a commitment to equal access to justice, and a demonstrated record of exceptional legal work. Moyers, effective Jan. 23 of next year. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Tennessee is taking applications for chief deputy clerk in Memphis. The court is comprised of four full-time judges and their chambers staff and the Clerk’s staff of 41 employees. The chief deputy clerk is a senior-level manager of the clerk’s office and oversees all administrative and supervisory functions, including operations, courtroom services, court training initiatives and more.
